Multiple tornadoes land in Middle Tennessee

Tennessee is a state that fortunately does not have a high average of tornadoes during the year compared to states that are in Tornado Alley, which consists of states from Texas to Nebraska. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Tennessee sees the highest number of tornadoes in April.

Two tornadoes were reported in Dowagiac in Cass County on Tuesday evening, the weather service said. One twister was reported in Centreville, Colon, Leonidas, Mendon and Wasepi in St. Joseph County, while another was reported in Sherwood in Branch County. There was one in Comstock in Kalamazoo County, the agency said.

In Michigan, weather service meteorologist Nathan Jeruzal said the tornadoes there touched down one each in Kalamazoo, Cass and Branch counties — all in the southwestern part of the state. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency for four counties.
