Tornadoes hit Southwest Michigan, damage FedEx facility

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI –– One confirmed tornado and another reported one devastated buildings, businesses and homes across Kalamazoo County on Tuesday, May 7. The confirmed tornado was an EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita tornado strength scale, according to the National Weather Service.

As of May 14, 2024, there have been 628 confirmed twisters this year, although many of the ratings are considered preliminary until published in the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) database. NCEI is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
